Hello, my name is Arnaud and I’m half French and half German. I am part of the Functiglass project together with the other 10 doctoral candidates. I will be working in Tampere and Milan.

They asked me to pick three pics representing me, so I have decided to share my passion for travels, especially like landscape and driving for 10-12 hours, escape the city. I’m also into music, live events, especially concerts for exemple Hans ZImmer. I’m also a cat person and I have one cat in my life. I’m also very fond of gaming, like my colleague Paul.
Project: 3D-Printed « Smart Bones » That Fight Infections with Light! We’re 3D-printing revolutionary biomaterials that glow under near-infrared (NIR) light—and release germ-killing nitric oxide on demand! Imagine a bone scaffold that not only helps regrowth but also zaps infections with light-activated chemistry. How? 1️⃣ Mix the Magic: Combine gels, phosphors (light-converting particles), and bioactive glass to create a hybrid material that glows when NIR light shines on it. 2️⃣ Light-Triggered Defense: When NIR light hits the scaffold, it converts to visible light, releasing nitric oxide—a natural antimicrobial agent that kills bacteria. 3️⃣ Bone Boost: The bioactive glass stimulates bone regrowth, while the nitric oxide keeps infections at bay. 4️⃣ 3D-Print the Future: Print complex, custom scaffolds for bone repair—smart implants that heal and protect! Goal: A working 3D-printed scaffold that regenerates bone and fights infection with light—a game-changer for medicine!
